The ambiance, the live ghazals, and the overall experience are definitely the highlights.
While the food is decent, it’s not quite the showstopper you’d expect for the price.
The ambiance is charming with flowing water in the center, royal crockery, and elegant decor, creating a serene atmosphere that’s perfect for enjoying the live music and cozy vibes.
The staff is courteous and attentive, but the service can be a bit slow, especially when the place is busy.
If you or your loved ones enjoy old Bollywood melodies and ghazals, this place is a must-visit. The music, ambiance, and atmosphere make it more than just a restaurant—it’s an experience! For the best music, try to visit on weekends when the live performances really shine.
From the moment I stepped into Tansen, I could feel this wasn’t just another restaurant—it had an old-world charm that instantly made the place feel special. The soft glow of the lights, the elegant crockery, and the soulful live singing in the background set the perfect mood. The best part? They even take song requests on the spot—‘farmaish’ as they call it.
On my two visits here, I tried quite a few dishes. I started with the Chicken Malai Tikka and two types of shorbas (one veg, one non-veg)—decent but nothing extraordinary. Moving to the mains, Dum ke Kofte and Dal Moradabadi were okay, but the real showstoppers were the Dal Sunehri—a rich, golden, ghee-laden dal makhani—and the Kulcha Chicken, both of which were packed with flavor.
I wrapped up my meal with their Thandai Tres Leches Cake, which was absolutely delicious. Sadly, I didn’t get a chance to try more desserts, but this one stood out with its unique twist on the classic tres leches.
The food itself is not mind-blowing, and given the prices, I expected a little more. But once you soak in the live music, the warm hospitality, and the overall experience, you realize that you’re paying for much more than just food. If you have someone in your life who loves old Bollywood songs and ghazals, this is the place to bring them. They’ll love it, and you’ll find yourself lost in the melodies too.
Overall, Tansen offers a great experience with its lively music and pleasant ambiance, making it worth a visit. Just keep in mind, while the food is decent, it’s the atmosphere and live performances that truly make this place stand out, so don’t expect extraordinary food.
